Matt Damon took a few tumbles while getting his surf on in Australia this week
Matt Damon doesn’t give up without a fight.
The Oscar winner, 48, was spotted hitting the waves in Byron Bay, Australia on Thursday. And while the actor gave it his best, he also took quite a few tumbles as he tried to get the hang of the difficult sport.
Wearing swim trunks and a black shirt, Damon looked like he was having fun as he gave it his all while trying to catch a couple waves. He even had a cheering squad with wife Luciana, 43, and his daughters watching from the shore.
It’s not the first time the Damon clan has headed down under for some relaxing family time. Damon, Luciana and their kids — Alexia, 20, Isabella, 12, Gia, 10, and Stella, 8 — have been seen in Australia several times in the last few years. The family also often links up with Chris Hemsworth and Elsa Pataky’s crew since the couple lives in Byron Bay.
They brought their families together in April 2017 during a vacation in Australia where they enjoyed a fun-filled day at Byron Bay’s famous beach, The Pass, with their children.
“We became friends around the time I started to work, and I’ve really benefited from watching how he handles himself,” Hemsworth told GQ in 2014. “Matt’s just a normal guy who has the movie-star thing figured out.”
The actor has even said that Damon taught him a thing or two.
“I learned everything there is about being sexy from Matt,” the PEOPLE Sexiest Man Alive alum said on Jimmy Kimmel Live! in 2014.
