After spending the summer in rehab, Lindsay Lohan is back in Los Angeles to shoot a movie.

The onetime party girl, 21, arrived over the weekend and had a low-key evening with friends Sunday, seeing the movie Elizabeth: The Golden Age and visiting a tanning salon.

Lohan was due this week on the set of the tango-themed film Dare to Love Me, the film for which she was preparing in July when she was arrested for DUI.

Lohan’s mother Dina says her daughter is eager to get back to work, telling PEOPLE, “Lindsay is very happy and her life is back in control.”

Earlier this month Lohan checked out of the exclusive Cirque Lodge Treatment Center in Utah, where she has been since August.

She still has to serve her 24-hour jail sentence arranged as a plea deal in the drunken-driving case.

Meanwhile, Lohan filed a legal action against a man who is suing her over a car accident in West Hollywood in 2005.

Raymundo Ortega has claimed Lohan was negligent – allegedly looking over her shoulder for paparazzi rather than watching the road – when her Mercedes-Benz collided with his van. But in her filing last week, Lohan claims it was Ortega who was negligent.
