Actors usually get pretty close after working on a movie together, but Lily-Rose Depp and the cast of Yoga Hosers were tight long before they ever got to set.

Depp shares top billing in the Kevin Smith directed film with her dad, Johnny, and also appears alongside her mom, Vanessa Paradis. Not to mention, her best friend (and Smith’s daughter) Harley Quinn Smith stars as her onscreen partner in crime.

“The most fun part of making the movie was being able to learn and experience everything for the first time with people I love and admire,” the 16-year-old model says in V Magazine’s special digital edition of V101.

Yoga Hosers

is a horror-comedy from the Clerks director about two teenage yoga and punk rock enthusiasts (Depp and Quinn) who end up battling an ancient evil creature. Smith has cited both Clueless and Gremlins as inspiration, and Depp thinks he nailed it.

“I’ve actually seen both of those movies countless times,” she says. “I think Kevin couldn’t have said it better – consciously or not, I definitely drew inspiration from those films.”

Beyond the tutelage of her famous parents, Depp says Smith was instrumental in her development as an actress. “I learned so much working on this movie,” she says. “Kevin really helped me come out of my shell as an actress. Being able to feel free and comfortable in your character’s skin is so important. I’m lucky I had such great people surrounding me to help me do that.”
