Could Leonardo DiCaprio be Quentin Tarantino’s newest villain?

According to several reports and industry Tweets, the actor is in talks for the role of Calvin Candie in the upcoming Django Unchained.

The film depicts a freed slave trying to save his wife from Candie, a plantation owner. And the role of the slave is equally buzzed-about.

After plenty of chatter that Will Smith had landed the title role, the new rumor is that Idris Elba, who starred on the HBO series The Wire, is actually the one up for the part.

“Having one of the biggest meetings of my professional life today,” he Tweeted. “Meeting a very controversial director for a very controversial part.”

Django Unchained is currently slated for release in 2013.
