Kelly Clarkson didn’t need too much convincing to act and sing in the upcoming UglyDolls animated film.

In a PEOPLE exclusive clip of the film, the 36-year-old singer says the idea of voicing Moxy, who accepts her own imperfections and discovers fitting in isn’t the answer to acceptance, was “rad.”

Clarkson also sings the film’s theme song “Broken & Beautiful,” which she says is “one of my favorite things that I’ve ever been able to record.”

Namely because “Pink wrote it and I’m a huge Pink fan,” says Clarkson, while taking a pause and smiling excitedly.

“There couldn’t have been a more perfect song written for the whole theme of this movie,” she continues. “And broken meaning not damaged, broken just meaning everybody’s under construction.”

The two stars sang together at the 2017 American Music Awards, with Clarkson tweeting her excitement at the time.

“Gonna play it super cool whilst singing with @Pink this Sunday at the #AMAs,” she wrote. “But know on the inside I will be freaking the &$@! out.”

Pink responded to tweet—and the compliment—writing, “You’re joking! I am humbly prepared to be outsung 🙂 I adore you and I cannot wait.”

UglyDolls is in theaters May 3.
