Don’t let her infamous rendition of “You’re So Vain” in How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days fool you – Kate Hudson is actually a very talented singer.

The actress showed off her impressive vocals with a performance of Prince‘s “Nothing Compares 2 U,” made famous by Sinead O’Connor, while attending mom Goldie Hawn‘s annual Love In For Kids benefit on Friday in Beverly Hills, California.

Hudson, who has also showed of her vocal skills on Glee and her Instagram account, shared a video of the performance on Instagram late Friday night.

In the clip, Hudson, 37, takes the stage to perform a soulful version of the song while wearing a lacy one-shoulder black dress.

At the event, Hawn and Hudson spoke to PEOPLE about their low-key Mother’s Day plans, which include being served brunch and mimosas by the men of the family.

“We’re going to Kate’s,” Hawn, 70, said. “Everybody’s kids will make things and all the guys will be there, and then we’ll all get in bed and eat.”
