Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson, Kevin Hart, Jack Black, and Karen Gillan star in the reboot of the 1995 film Jumanji
It’s a jungle out there!
Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson, Kevin Hart, Jack Black and Karen Gillan are rolling the dice on a reboot of the 1995 board game adventure comedy Jumanji. And while they’ve only been filming for one day, things are already looking pretty wild.
Johnson and Hart gave fans a sneak peak of the action on Tuesday, posting a shot of the four leads in costume standing in the middle of the jungle. “Hard workin’ and FUN first day of shooting in the jungle with this talented and crazy motley crew,” Johnson captioned the pic on his Instagram shot.
“Extremely hard trying to keep a straight face in these scenes,” he added. “Too funny. We’re makin’ a good one. More to come…”
He hashtagged the post “#WishFulfillment #TheGameThatPlaysYou.”
“Day 1 of shooting Jumanji is officially in the can,” Hart wrote in his post. “We had a amazing first day. The chemistry & energy of our cast & crew was beyond amazing!!!! This movie is going to be dope as hell….Can’t wait to get back to work tomorrow.
The first-look image shows Hart (as Moose Finbar) looking nervous, while Black (as Professor Shelly Oberon), Gillan (as Ruby Roundhouse) and Johnson (as Dr. Smolder Bravestone) stare down the camera.

“Jack is brilliant, Karen is bad assery, Kevin is sharply hilarious and I smell good,” Johnson explains, of the cast.
As for Gillan’s barely-there jungle attire, Johnson assures there’s a reason. “Her jungle wardrobe will make sense when you know the plot,” he said. “Trust me.”
Based on a 1981 children’s story by Chris Van Allsburg, the original Jumanji movie was released over 20 years ago in December 1995. In the film, Robin Williams plays a man who was sucked into the game as a boy and is released years later – along with a hunter, giant spiders, people-killing plants and plenty of other CGI wonders.
Jumanji hits theaters in the summer 2017.
