The real Joy Mangano thinks Jennifer Lawrence is the “perfect” person to play a role inspired by her.

“There couldn’t be a bigger honor,” Mangano told PEOPLE Now. “She is way beyond her years, a talent beyond a talent, and a really amazing, amazing human being.”

In director David O. Russell‘s new movie, Joy, Lawrence, 25, plays a single mom and entrepreneur who invents the Miracle Mop.

Mangano said The Hunger Games star exceeded all of her expectations when she met her for the first time.

“After 10 minutes, I felt like she could be my daughter. She could be me, easily. That’s the first thing,” the Brooklyn-born mother- of-three said.

To bring Mangano’s story to the big screen, Russell, who also wrote the movie, spent hours on the phone with the inventor. Now, she’s beyond happy for others to finally seen the movie.

“I hope it inspires and delights and I hope it brings happiness and so much more to everybody that sees this movie,” she said. “If it inspires anybody to say ‘I can do anything’ that’s a really good thing.

Joy opens in theaters Christmas Day.
