Jim Carrey already knows what it’s like to play God – so now he’s getting ready to play the Devil himself.

The Bruce Almighty star is teaming up with Jake Gyllenhaal for a movie version of the Tony-winning musical, Damn Yankees, according to Playbill.

In the film, which will be a more modern take on the ’50s classic, Gyllenhaal will portray Joe Boyd, a Yankees fan so desperate to see his baseball team win that he sells his soul to Satan to help the Bronx Bombers take the pennant.

The role of Lola – the hottie with a heart of gold who helps the Devil seduce Joe – hasn’t been cast yet, reports Variety.

Calls to both Carrey and Gyllenhaal’s reps have not been returned.
