Jennifer Lawrence’s next movie is coming a month earlier than expected, and now we’re getting a first (and intense) look at the film via its first teaser trailer.

The new footage from mother! arrived online Monday, beginning with Lawrence wandering through a home as disembodied voices are heard speaking. But as the teaser progresses, things take a much more sinister turn.

The psychological thriller, written and directed by Darren Aronofsky (Black Swan), centers on a couple whose relationship is tested when a group of unexpected guests arrive at their home. Lawrence stars alongside Javier Bardem, Michelle Pfeiffer, and Ed Harris.

The film marks the first collaboration between Lawrence, 26, and the Black Swan director, 48, who have since started dating. The two are frequently seen stepping out in New York together, where Aronofsky lives with his 11-year-old son Henry from his previous marriage to actress Rachel Weisz.

mother! will screen at film festivals in Venice and Toronto before arriving in theaters Sept. 15.
