Their time on The Hunger Games may have come to an end, but the odds of its stars remaining friends for years to come? Favorable.
“We have a text chain, we talk, we fly around to see each other – we make it work in many ways,” Josh Hutcherson, 23, told PEOPLE of keeping up with costars Jennifer Lawrence and Liam Hemsworth at The Hunger Games: Mockingjay, Part 2 premiere in New York on Wednesday.
And with all the bonding time they got filming and promoting the franchise for four years, the last day of production was a memorable one for the onscreen trio.
“The final moment, when we wrapped the movie, was pretty poignant. That was the moment when everything came to an end, so I really vividly remember that – it was me, Jen, Liam, the whole cast all together on set, and that’s just a great time,” says Hutcherson.
A great time – and one filled with water works and revelry.
“There were a lot of tears: a lot of champagne [and] a lot of tears,” says director Francis Lawrence, 44, who says throwing back bubbly with J-Law is, as expected, “just like drinking with a normal girl.”
The Hunger Games: Mockingjay, Part 2 hits theaters Friday.
