Jennifer Lawrence‘s new beau, Darren Aronofsky, seems to be hitting it off with one of the actress’s best friends — her lovable pooch, Pippa.

The Oscar-winning actress, 26, and the 47-year-old director were photographed taking Pippa for a stroll in N.Y.C. on Sunday. The couple held hands — and even shared a lollipop — as Lawrence held the reigns for Pippa.

A source close to Lawrence told PEOPLE that the duo have been seeing each other. “They’ve been hanging out and are casually dating,” says the insider.

Lawrence, dressed in a gray peacoat, and the Black Swan director kept a low profile in hats and sunglasses. A source previously told PEOPLE that, like Lawrence, the director “is very low-key.”

“He does not seem like a person who enjoys being a celebrity. Jennifer is the same,” adds the source.

The duo collaborated together on a still-untitled project starring Lawrence, Ed Harris and Javier Bardem. They were also photographed together in August enjoying lunch at a cafe.

Lawrence had previously been linked to Coldplay frontman Chris Martin, whom she dated off and on from August 2014 to August 2015. Before Martin, Lawrence and her X-Men: First Class costar Nicholas Hoult had a nearly five-year romance beginning in 2010.

Aronofsky shares a 10-year-old son, Henry, with ex Rachel Weisz.
