It’s Scarlett vs. Jennifer!

Two of Hollywood’s top leading ladies Scarlett Johansson and Jennifer Lawrence are about to go head-to-head, as the two stars are both slated to portray the late Zelda Fitzgerald in dueling biopics, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The wife of author F. Scott Fitzgerald died nearly 70 years ago in a fire at a hospital in North Carolina, but lately the Jazz Age icon has landed at the top of Hollywood’s must-list.

With Amazon already set to roll out its own series, Z: The Beginning of Everything, with Christina Ricci playing the woman dubbed as the first American flapper, now the two films starring Johansson and Lawrence, respectively, are said to be on the fast track to hitting the silver screen.

Both films will focus on Fitzgerald’s personal life, portraying parts of her life that have widely been untold. And while she may be best known as her famous husband’s literary muse, the films will dive into her own career as an author and her struggle with mental illness (she was diagnosed with schizophrenia and later institutionalized).

Lawrence’s project, Zelda, has snagged Ron Howard as director, while Johansson’s film, Beautiful and Damned (based on F. Scott’s book of the same name) does not yet have a director on board.

While the rough premise of each film is known, production dates and slated release dates have yet to be determined.
