Jennifer Lawrence Admits to Looking Herself Up Online: 'I Once Googled 'Jennifer Lawrence Ugly' '

Jennifer Lawrence prides herself on not letting fame get to her head, and while she may ooze confidence as one of Hollywood’s top actresses, even she admits to giving in to the pressures of being in the spotlight.

As much as she tries to ignore the media attention, Lawrence, 25, has found herself watching what she says after seeing how tabloids can spin stories.

“I’m so scared to say anything now. I can see every negative way that people can take it, and I don’t want to sound like I’m complaining,” Lawrence told The New York Times. “It probably comes from Googling myself. If it were up to me, I would not talk. I would just act.”

Of course, Lawrence is no doubt aware that Googling herself isn’t the healthiest thing for her self-esteem, but the Hunger Games star says sometimes she just can’t help it.

“You try being 22, having a period and staying away from Google,” she said. “I once Googled ‘Jennifer Lawrence Ugly.’ [ Laughs] Do I sound bitchy?”

So how does she deal with the stress and anxiety that comes with fame?

“I have a prescription,” she joked.

“I find a certain peace by thinking of me in public as sort of an avatar self. You out there can have the avatar me. I can keep me,” Lawrence added. “And I just try to acknowledge that this scrutiny is stressful, and that anyone would find it stressful. So I’ve got to try to let it go, and try to be myself, and focus on important things, like picking up dog poop.”

And when her prescription doesn’t do the trick, Lawrence leans on her friends for support. She recently became fast friends with Amy Schumer (the two are even writing a screenplay together), and she admits that she’s still close with her Hunger Games cast.
