The actress' new movie Miracles from Heaven opens Wednesday
Jennifer Garner knows how to bring a smile to children’s faces.
Dressed casually in jeans and a black shell tank with her hair tied back in a ponytail, Jennifer made the rounds and stopped to snap a photo with a young patient named Ellie and her mother. The two connected over both having upcoming April birthdays.
On Sunday, Jennifer hosted a fundraiser for Boston Children’s Hospital at the Showcase Superlux at The Street Chestnut Hill, just outside of the city. She reunited with the Beam family, who were the inspiration for Miracles from Heaven, as well as Dr. Samuel Nurko, who was their doctor.
The actress then attended a screening of the movie at the same venue, where she walked the red carpet with the Beam family and Dr. Nurko.
After the screening of the film (which opens Wednesday) and a Q&A session, Garner, 43, headed next door to Davio’s Chestnut Hill for a small cocktail reception. Clad in black pants, a black top and a fitted navy blazer, Garner was “upbeat,” according to partygoers, as she sipped a glass of Cabernet and ate tuna tartare.
Garner hung out with one of her sisters at the reception, but made sure to take a moment to pose for a photo with a member of Davio’s staff at the event, which was a benefit for Children’s Hospital Boston.
“She seems very close to the people who are portrayed in the movie. She was incredibly down-to-earth and generous with her time,” said Davio’s Regional General Manager Paul Flaherty, who snapped a photo with the star. “She was extremely gracious and humble.”
