Jenna Dewan Says Boyfriend Steve Kazee Turned Her Into a Wrestling Fan: 'I Was Hooked'
PEOPLE confirmed in October that Jenna Dewan and Steve Kazee were dating following her divorce from Channing Tatum
Jenna Dewan has her boyfriend Steve Kazee to thank for her newfound love of professional wrestling.
On Friday’s episode of The Ellen DeGeneres Show, the dancer and actress, 38, opened up to guest host John Cena about her passion for the sport that made him a star.
“I know all about you,” she said. “Steve, my boyfriend, is a huge wrestling fan. And he got me so into it!”
Just how into wrestling is Dewan? She told Cena that she’s become so obsessed that she even tunes in when Kazee, 43, isn’t around.
“I watched WrestleMania by myself,” she confessed. “Like, he wasn’t even in town and I watched WrestleMania. Because I had to know if Becky Lynch was going to beat Ronda Rousey!”
“I was by myself, I ordered it, and I was sitting there texting [Steve] like, ‘Do you know what’s happening?’ I had to! I had to know!” she recalled. “I was hooked!”
Asked if she could ever see herself participating in the WWE, Dewan quickly shot Cena down. “I am absolutely not that tough,” she said. “Never.”
PEOPLE confirmed in October that Dewan and Kazee — a Tony winner for his role in the Broadway musical Once — had been “dating for months.” They’ve since spent her December birthday and Valentine’s Day together, and were photographed holding hands in West Hollywood just last month.
Kazee has also spent time with Everly, Dewan’s 5-year-old daughter she shares with her ex-husband Channing Tatum.
“She’s very happy,” a source told PEOPLE in March. “Jenna thinks he’s great with her daughter.”
“Jenna is gushing about how amazing her relationship with Steve is,” the insider continued.
The amicable exes — who met on the set of their 2006 film Step Up — shared their commitment to remain “loving dedicated parents to Everly” last year, even taking the little girl trick-or-treating together on Halloween. They have since requested joint physical and legal custody of their daughter.
Meanwhile, Tatum, 38, has moved on as well, dating British pop star Jessie J. The two have also spent time with Everly in Los Angeles. A second source told PEOPLE in November, “Jenna and Channing are both very respectful of each other, but she’s ready to move on with her life.”

Also on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, Dewan opens up about her upcoming memoir, Gracefully You: How to Live Your Best Life Every Day.
The book, out in October 2019, finds Dewan using her own deeply personal journey to show readers how to live with grace while also connecting with their deeper selves and exploring their own true voice.
“It’s no secret I had a very intense year and a lot of change,” Dewan explained on Ellen. “I’m a hippie at heart. I’m sort of a seeker. I like to do practices and rituals and things that are connected to things bigger than myself. And so through that, I used a lot of these sort of techniques and things like that to help me through change.”
“There are a lot of personal stories. It’s a lot that I go into. And then there’s also rituals and my hippie side that I put in there,” she continued. “I’ve just always been that kind of person so I put it all together in this book. And there’s poetry, there’s funny stories, there’s a lot about dance. It was really cathartic and fun to write this.”
The Ellen DeGeneres Show airs weekdays in syndication.
