The Amazon CEO — who has an estimated net worth of $137 billion, making him the richest man in the world — and author recently released a joint statement in which they revealed they were separating after 25 years of marriage. Since then, both have kept a low profile. The pair have four children together: a daughter and three sons. Bezos, 54, has also found love in news anchor and actress Lauren Sanchez. “Once they separated and another woman emerged it was just a matter of time before they decided to end the marriage,” a source tells PEOPLE. “But they will be adult about it and share parenting.” Joe Scarnici/Getty The source adds that Bezos and MacKenzie, 48, were “outwardly warm and happy together with no sign of problems” before announcing their separation. “Jeff is so busy in many areas where he is communicating with all kinds of people and traveling,” the insider says. “On the other hand, MacKenzie is low-key, writing fiction and working on other projects while raising their children.” MacKenzie, who has written two books, met Bezos after she graduated from Princeton University. The two were engaged within three months after their first date, and married within six, according to Vogue. “Jeff is the opposite of me,” she told the magazine in 2013. “He likes to meet people. He’s a very social guy. Cocktail parties for me can be nervewracking.
