Is Hugh Jackman putting away his claws once and for all?

The Australian actor, 46, hinted via Instagram on Saturday that he is reprising his Wolverine character for the last time after more than 15 years in the role.

Jackman, who last starred as the famed superhero in 2014’s X-Men: Days of Future Past, posted a cryptic image of his fists and one of the iconic steel claws with the caption, “WOLVERINE ONE LAST TIME. HJ.”

Fans took to the comments to debate the meaning behind the mysterious photo. But Jackman is referring to a planned sequel to the 2013 stand-alone Wolverine film, a source told The Wrap.

The Les Misérables actor also previously hinted himself that the solo project would likely be the end of his run.

“If I did another [Wolverine film], I’m 99.9 percent sure it would be the last, so that will inform what it is for me,” Jackman told SFX magazine in 2014.

“I still am very ambitious for the character. And tonally I feel like we corrected the ship with the last one. But I feel we can still go further, in a way,” he told the magazine.

Director James Mangold and 20th Century Fox have slated the third Wolverine stand-alone film for March 2017.

The X-Men franchise also continues next summer with X-Men: Apocalypse, but it’s unconfirmed whether Jackman is the one suiting up. Jennifer Lawrence also announced this is her last appearance as Mystique.
