The two-time Oscar winner, 43, stopped by the Late Show with Stephen Colbert to chat about her new FX series Trust and give an update on her dad, Stephen. “He’s great, thank you for asking! For those of you who don’t know, my dad got a lung transplant,” Swank told the audience after Colbert asked about her dad. “It’s the hardest surgery a person can undergo and I thank all the people who make themselves a donor, it saves lives.” She continued, “They had given him a short time to live if he didn’t get one and thankfully he got one and he’s alive and thriving and well. I took three years off to be with him and help him through that life journey.” Swank, who won an Oscar for Boys Don’t Cry in 2000 and Million Dollar Baby in 2005, has posted several photos with her dad and updates on his health on Instagram since his surgery. The actress said her “papa” was fully recovered in November 2016. “He’s 100% better after his lung transplant,” she said alongside a sweet selfie of the two. “Thank you everyone for your prayers and incredible kindness during the last two years.” Hilary Swank/Instagram She also celebrated the one year anniversary of the transplant in December 2015 and thanked the organ donor who saved his life. “This dear man, my dad got a lung transplant a year ago today,” she said. “By the grace of God, brilliant doctors, an organ donor, much love and many prayers from loved ones…and even complete strangers, he is alive today. Thank you all for your care and kindness!!” Trust premieres on FX on March 25.
