J.K. Rowling Says She Always Knew Tom Felton Is a Gryffindor (And We Did Too)
Felton played Slytherin seeker Draco Malfoy in the Harry Potter movies
The Sorting Hat always knows.
On Wednesday, Tom Felton – formerly known as Slytherin seeker Draco Malfoy but currently known as World’s Best Harry Potter Star (more on that in a bit) – revealed his true Hogwarts calling.
“Today was the day. I finally did it. I joined Pottermore and was sorted into .. Gryffindor. Heart broken x #slytherinforlife” he Tweeted on Wednesday – prompting a knowing reply from Harry Potter oracle J.K. Rowling herself.
“I could have told you that years ago,” she Tweeted back. “I just didn’t want to spoil your motivation ;)”
But Rowling isn’t the only one who had the not-so-lowdown on Felton, who is currently appearing in the WWII movie Against the Sun and on the TNT drama Murder in the First.
Speaking to PEOPLE last June at a preview of the new Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Diagon Alley at Universal Orlando, Felton, 27, revealed a positively Gryffindor-esque loyalty in speaking about his beloved late Chesapeake Bay retriever, Timber.
“She was a very sweet soul,” he said, pointing to Timber’s red bandana, which he wore on his wrist.
What’s more, dedicated Potterphiles know that Felton – whose longtime girlfriend, British actress Jade Olivia, appeared as Draco’s wife in the Deathly Hallows epilogue – continues to adorably embrace his Hogwarts roots.
All of that, plus he loves Cadbury Mini Eggs.
(Is it just us, or does anyone else think he might have just a dollop of Hufflepuff too?)
