A Harry Potter actor and his father are recovering from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident that left them waiting for an ambulance for nearly 90 minutes.
Josh Herdman, 27 – best known for his role as Gregory Goyle in the Harry Potter movie series – and his father, Martin Herdman, 59, were knocked unconscious after being thrown off their bike when it skidded on oil in the Hounslow borough of London, shortly after 2:30 p.m. on Sept. 15, according to the Richmond & Twickenham Times.
“The wheel slipped on the road and just went – I tried to straighten it up but the back was sideways,” Martin told the paper. “We were both unconscious for several seconds before coming round.”
Police arrived on the scene shortly after the accident but were reportedly unable to transfer them to the hospital in their marked cars due to the two men’s injuries and a supposed lack of insurance coverage if something were to happen while en route.
According to a London Ambulance Service spokesperson, they were called at 2:43 p.m. with the report of a crash and an ambulance was sent at 2:57 p.m., but had to change routes due to a higher priority call.
“One ambulance going past even stopped to ask what had happened but they either had someone in the back or were on their way to another call,” recalled Martin.
An ambulance finally arrived at the scene at approximately 3:59 p.m., according to the spokesperson, the Richmond & Twickenham Times reports.

“We are very sorry that we were unable to be there any sooner; we are very busy and prioritize our patients who are critically ill,” said the spokesperson in response to the long wait time.
Both men were treated at the West Middlesex University Hospital. Martin was left with a torn ligament on his ankle and additional cuts and bruises.
“It was quite a nasty accident,” said Martin.
