Consciously Friendly! Gwyneth Paltrow Gets Cozy with Chris Martin's Girlfriend Dakota Johnson

Gwyneth Paltrow and Dakota Johnson proved that there's no awkwardness between them with two cheerful pictures

No awkwardness here!

Gwyneth Paltrow and Dakota Johnson — who is now dating Paltrow’s ex-husband, Chris Martin — looked like the best of buds at Derek Blasberg’s birthday party on Monday night. The two are laughing and smiling while Paltrow, 46, has her arm around Johnson, 29, in two shots from the party that Blasberg posted on his Instagram.

Johnson has been linked to Martin, 42, ever since they were spotted together in October 2017. Paltrow’s new husband Brad Falchuk was also seen sitting between them in other photos from the night.

“Consciously throupling,” Blasberg captioned the shot form the party.

Paltrow recently opened up about the backlash she faced in 2014 when she and Martin announced their split in an unconventional way by saying that they were “consciously uncoupling.”

The actress told Dax Shepard on his Armchair Expert podcast that the criticism felt like a “layer of the world turning on us about saying, essentially, we just want to be nice to each other and stay a family.”

“It was brutal,” she continued. “I already felt like I had no skin on.”

Paltrow chose the term after dedicating herself to researching the effects divorce has on children in order to provide their two kids with Martin — Apple, 14, and Moses, 13 — with a smooth transition.

“The most common wound that I heard from children of divorce was, ‘My parents couldn’t be in the same room and couldn’t be friends. It took three years, it took 18 years, it took — God forbid — the death of a close family member for them to sit at the same table,’ ” Paltrow explained. “I just thought, ‘I wonder if there’s a way to circumvent that and go directly to the point where we’re friends and we remember what we loved about each other, and constantly acknowledge that we created these incredible human beings together.’”

Paltrow and Martin have lived up to that, with the two closely raising their kids and often spending quality family time together. The Goop CEO recently opened up to The Evening Standard about their relationship years after getting divorced.

“I think Chris and I were meant to be together and have our kids,” Paltrow said. “But our relationship is much better like this: friends and co-parents and family.”
