Turns out, not even the happiest place on earth could ease Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin‘s fear of roller coasters.

The amicable exes reunited over the weekend to celebrate their daughter Apple’s 12th birthday with a family trip to Disneyland.

Paltrow, 43, took to Instagram on Sunday to share a selfie of the two at the bottom of Thunder Mountain after they chickened out of hopping on the thrill ride alongside their two children.

“When your parents can’t handle #thundermountain anymore so they wait for you at the bottom.#disneyland #thehappiestplaceonearth #birthdayweekend,” Paltrow captioned the shot of the pair hiding under rocks.

Paltrow and Martin, 39, kept their style low-key for the day, with the Coldplay crooner donning a puffy blue jacket and beanie, while the actress wore long denim shorts and a white top.

And while they stayed close to their children throughout the day, it didn’t take long for fellow park-goers to spot the famous pair.

“Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin just walked by me,” on Twitter user wrote.

Disneyland completed Apple’s birthday weekend, which kicked off on Saturday with some of her famous friends.

Paltrow shared a photo from Apple’s “birthday brunch,” which included a shot of the youngster standing with a group of friends – including Beyoncé and Jay Z‘s daughter Blue Ivy, 4.

Though Paltrow and Martin announced their split in March of 2014, the two have maintained a close relationship and often come back together to celebrate holidays and birthdays. Earlier this year, Paltrow and the kids accompanied Martin on the first leg of his band’s tour in Peru and Argentina.
