Tom Hanks‘ next role is ready for take-off.

The two-time Oscar winner, who has begun filming for his part as Captain Chesley “Sully” Sullenberger in Clint Eastwood‘s biopic Sully, was seen in full costume, hair and makeup in New York on Friday.

The film will highlight the brave pilot’s heroic landing of a troubled aircraft on the Hudson River.

Sullenberger was named a hero in 2009 when he landed US Airways Flight 1549 in the Hudson River in the New York City area after a flock of birds flew into the engine following take-off from La Guardia Airport in Queens, New York. There was 155 people onboard, all of whom survived.

The screenplay, written by Todd Komarnicki (Perfect Stranger, Elf) is based on the heroic pilot’s autobiography Highest Duty: My Search for What Really Matters.

A release date for the film has not yet been set.
