It’s been nearly 12 years since we last visited Calvin’s Barbershop on the South Side of Chicago, but this April, the whole family is getting back together.

Entertainment Weekly, PEOPLE, and Essence have your first look at Barbershop: The Next Cut, which reunites Ice Cube, Cedric the Entertainer, Eve, and the rest of the series cast, while adding a few new faces to the mix.

Common and Nicki Minaj are among the new employees at Calvin’s, playing the husband of Eve’s character, Terri, and her potential romantic rival. According to director Malcolm D. Lee (The Best Man Holiday), Ice Cube and Cedric the Entertainer were as vital to the production as they are to the comedy in the film.

“This ensemble came to work every day, and they left it all on the floor. In some of these scenes, you as an actor might have one or two lines, but they all stuck around,” Lee says. “With Cube and Cedric, being the pillars of the film, they’re also the pillars of the people on set. They set the tone.”

For a third go-around, there’s more than the shop on the line. As Chicago grows more dangerous due to gang violence, the crew from Calvin’s has to come together to help save the community and their own family.

Barbershop: The Next Cut is scheduled to hit theater on April 15.
