Someone needs to pay a visit to the Red Room of Pain.

Fifty Shades of Grey star Victor Rasuk stopped by PEOPLE Now on Monday, where we quizzed him on his knowledge of BDSM terms. Turns out, someone’s a little virginal when it comes to caning and sensory deprivation.

“I didn’t even know a lot of those things existed,” he laughed.

In fact the actor, who plays Ana’s “close friend” José (a little too close for the tastes of Mr. Grey), had to phone up his family members when he had questions about the movie’s erotic content.

“I wasn’t familiar at all with the book,” Rasuk admitted. “I actually had to call some of my family members – like my aunt, who was a huge fan of the book.

“I said, ‘Hey before I start doing this role, am I naked in this movie?’ ”

Fortunately for Rasuk, José is one of the characters whose clothes stay decidedly on throughout the film. “I felt the most liberated of all the cast,” he said.

So what are his tips for couples looking to see the movie this Valentine’s Day? “For the lovebirds, you definitely have to have a nice romantic dinner, watch the movie, have a little aphrodisiac after – a little chocolate, a little wine,” he said. “I think you’re going to love it.”

Fifty Shades of Grey hits theaters Feb. 13. Just make sure to leave your whips at home.
