Has Anastasia’s big screen Christian Grey finally arrived?

After Charlie Hunnam dropped out of the screen adaptation of Fifty Shades of Grey, speculation reached a fever pitch over who would replace him in the steamy starring role.

It now appears that Irish actor Jamie Dornan is the guy.

The British actor and former Calvin Klein model, 31, will assume the role of Christian, Variety reported Wednesday. The studio is not commenting on the reports. However, a source confirms to PEOPLE that the casting is indeed in its final negotiations.

Dakota Johnson, 24, will star as Anastasia Steele, and the film is reportedly still set for an Aug. 1, 2014 release, despite the casting shakeup.

Dornan currently stars in the British TV series The Fall, and once dated Keira Knightley.
