Entertainment Movies Every Racy Detail We Know About 'Fifty Shades Darker' The build-up to the film has been, to put it gently, intense By Maria Yagoda Updated on February 7, 2017 01:03 PM Share Tweet Pin Email Is it Feb. 10, 2017 yet? We have the date marked in our calendars as the release of Fifty Shades Darker, which will see Dakota Johnson and Jamie Dornan reprise their roles as Anastasia Steele and Christian Grey. Judging from the trailer (and the book), this will be the franchise’s sexiest film yet. The build-up to the film has been, to put it gently, intense. With the release of the trailer and Taylor Swift and Zayn’s new song for the film, “I Don’t Wanna Live Forever,” fans are being teased with tons of tidbits. Here’s everything we know about the sequel so far. The film avoided an NC-17 rating. Like Fifty Shades of Grey, Fifty Shades Darker has been given a R-rating for “strong erotic sexual content, some graphic nudity and language,” according to a statement from the MPAA obtained by E! News. Although the film’s official trailer teases a super-hot shower scene and an unfathomable amount of sexual tension, the censor board did not give the movie the NC-17 rating. Fifty Shades author E. L. James‘ husband Niall Leonard wrote the script. Her husband, a published novelist himself, will reportedly write the sequel, which sees Christian fighting to win Ana (Johnson) back after their bitter breakup at the end of the first film. There is an absurd amount of sexual tension. (That was a freebie.) Chuck Zlotnick/Focus Features/Everett “I want you back,” Christian says in the trailer, which dropped in early October. “I had no idea what this was gonna become.” “I don’t see how this can work,” Anastasia replies, as the trailer shows scenes from a masquerade ball and the two lovers getting steamy in the shower. Kim Basinger will play Christian Grey’s ex (and sexual mentor.) Dario Cantatore/Getty Images for Wells and Jeta Entertainment Basinger, 62, will play Elena Lincoln, a business partner and former lover of Grey. Introduced in the second book, Lincoln is positioned as an antagonist for Steele. The soundtrack is lit. https://www.instagram.com/p/BNyFYpMBNOU/?taken-by=taylorswift&hl=en The first film had Beyoncé’s sultry “Crazy in Love” remix, and we’re already obsessing over the recently dropped single from the Fifty Shades Darker soundtrack: “I Don’t Wanna Live Forever,” a Zayn Malik and Taylor Swift collaboration. The single was written by Swift, Jack Antonoff (who also produced the track) and Sam Dew specifically for the film. Malik opened up about how the collaboration came to be. “We were kind of in separate places when I mentioned the idea to her. I spoke to her on the phone and she heard the song because Jack [Antonoff] had played it to her,” the singer, 23, said Tuesday on the Elvis Duran and The Morning Show. “So she really liked it and she went in the studio the next day.” https://www.instagram.com/p/BNyEx_rA5SC/?taken-by=zayn&hl=en Swift — who is close friends with both Malik’s girlfriend Gigi Hadid and the movie franchise’s leading lady Dakota Johnson — “was cool with it” after Malik asked her to collaborate on the track. “The interesting thing was she’s actually friends with Gi, so she already reached out because Jack had just played her the song anyway, just because we’d done it together and she really liked it,” says Malik. There’s shower sex, NSFW elevator antics and a helicopter crash. We hope no one gets hurt! Skin. Will. Be. Shown. Fifty Shades Darker will hit theaters on Feb. 10.
