At Sunday night’s Screen Actors Guild Awards red carpet, the director of Crazy Rich Asians, Jon M. Chu, said after the romantic comedy turned out to be a raging success, Johnson — who is half Samoan — called him because he had some questions about the cast list.
“The Rock did call me — he was mad that I didn’t call him for it,” Chu told Access Hollywood. “He was like, ‘We’re so proud, blah blah blah, why didn’t you call me for this?’ ”
