When Brianna Hildebrand signed on to play the gothic mutant Negasonic Teenage Warhead in Deadpool, she wasn’t just excited because it meant joining the X-Men franchise – it meant she got to work with her teenage celebrity crush: Ryan Reynolds.

“I actually had photoshopped myself into a picture with him when I was maybe a freshmen in high school,” Hildebrand, 19, told Entertainment Tonight.

After getting to know Reynolds on set, the actress eventually showed him the picture.

“I’m like, ‘Ryan, look at this! You used to be my best friend in my mind,’ ” she said. “He did a great job of not seeming super freaked out.”

In fact, Hildebrand said Reynolds and the rest of the Deadpool cast helped her feel more comfortable on set since it was one of her first major movie roles.

“I was pretty nervous coming to set because everyone was so much more experienced than I was,” she admitted. “I had a talk almost everyone in the cast they just really reassured me that I was in the right place and that I knew what I was doing.”

And after getting a taste of what it’s like to be an X-Men apprentice, Hildebrand is ready for the big leagues.

“It would be cool if [Negasonic Teenage Warhead] could hang out in the X-Men world a little more.”

Deadpool hit theaters Friday.
