"We're just telling him in the most practical terms what's happening, and it's, This is mommy and daddy's job and I've been given this honor,' " Pratt told PEOPLE at the ceremony of preparing Jack for the day. "Last night I was telling him, 'Tomorrow there are going to be people there and they're going to want to see you and take your picture. It's important for us to be an example and try to smile and be gracious and keep our shoes tied and no boogers hanging out of our noses.' " 03 of 08 SplashNews "This is actually a thank-you speech," Faris said during her time at the podium. "I'm the beneficiary of all this because I get to spend every day with this wonderful man ... I know that if our circumstances were different and we weren't as fortunate to be standing here and living our Hollywood life, we would be happy in the woods together, I think." 04 of 08 Jesse Grant/Getty Faris also spoke about Jack, who was born prematurely with health complications. "He stood by me and held me and was my anchor," she said of Pratt. You've given me so much, you gave me the greatest star in the galaxy my little boy. Without it, none of this means anything to me. With every challenge, we become more bonded. You're very caring and thank you for your trust and sacrifice, and I will do my best to protect it. You have my heart, my dedication, my trust. Without you, none of this means anything." 06 of 08 Kevork Djansezian/Getty "At the premiere of Guardians 2, on the red carpet he whispered something unbelievably inappropriate into my ear and it was awesome," Faris joked during the ceremony. "Honey, I want to thank you for being the most incredible person. I love you so much." 07 of 08 AKM-GSI A host of Hollywood heavyweights came out to toast Pratt, along with several of his Guardians costars and members of his family, whom he thanked individually for their impact on his life. "I'm a man of faith and I believe that God works in mysterious ways and gives us signs and gifts in life — and those gifts oftentimes come in the form of people," he said.
