Chris Evans 'Used to Love' Smoking Weed But Is Now Taking a Break: It 'Gets in My Way'
The Captain America actor tells The Hollywood Reporter he "used to love" marijuana, but has taken a step back from smoking lately
Don’t pass the bong to Chris Evans.
The Avengers: Endgame star tells The Hollywood Reporter he’s “chilled out on weed.”
“I used to love it, but now I think it’s the one thing that gets in my way,” the actor, 37, explains. “It zaps your motivation. I think apathy kind of bleeds in, and you start to think, ‘Well, I’m not apathetic, I just don’t feel like doing that.’ And it’s like, no — you would feel like doing that if you weren’t stoned.”
Evans met with Rep. Earl Blumenauer of Oregon earlier this month to discuss marijuana reform, as well as voting rights and bipartisanship in our current political times.
“Enjoyed speaking with Captain America, @ChrisEvans, about marijuana reform, voting rights, and bipartisanship in times of division in the nation’s capital,” Blumenauer tweeted on March 8. “I can do this all day!”
When speaking with ComingSoon.net in 2011, Evans reacted with shock when he found out his interviewer had never done drugs.
“REALLY!?? You’re missing out, dude!” Evans said, adding, “Let’s smoke some weed, bro!”

But now, Evans feels he’s aged out of blazing up.
“You know — I’m 37,” he continues to THR. “I can’t be smoking weed all the time. That’s crazy.”
Avengers: Endgame opens April 26.
