In a recent interview with WSJ Magazine Charlize Theron reveals that her and co-star, Tom Hardy, didn’t exactly get along on set. “From what I hear, he’s not like that on every movie – I hear he’s had good experiences,” Theron said of working with Hardy. “Maybe the movie is what it is because we struggled so much with each other, and those characters had to struggle so much with each other. If we were chum-chum, maybe the movie would have been 10 times worse.” George Miller, who directed the Oscar nominated film, says “the trajectory of the character can’t help but seep into the work.” “When they first meet each other, they’re trying to kill each other. As the two characters come together out of necessity and rather reluctantly, they have to find a degree of trust. And to some extent that was the trajectory of their relationship as well.” Theron also used the interview as a platform to put all the rumors regarding her breakup to Sean Penn to rest. “There is this need to sensationalize things,” the actress said. “When you leave a relationship there has to be some f–––ing ghosting thing, like literally I still don’t even know what it is.” Theron continued, “It’s just its own beast. We were in a relationship and then it didn’t work anymore. And we both decided to separate. That’s it.”
