Hail, Channing! Hear Tatum Sing and Watch Him Tap-Dance Like Gene Kelly in New 'Hail, Caesar!' Clip

Check out the Magic Mike star's song-and-dance skills in a brand-new video feature

You’ve seen his smooth moves in Magic Mike and pretend-singing on Lip Sync Battle, but did you know Channing Tatum can actually sing and tap dance?

Feast your eyes upon Tatum’s Gene Kelly-esque skills as talented and self-absorbed actor Burt Gurney in a brand-new featurette for his upcoming film Hail, Caesar!.

“Burt Gurney, he is a song-and-dance man,” says Tatum in the clip, which features a sneak peek at the actor’s mastery of complex tap choreography and his first time singing in a film. “Burt is with a bunch of guys doing a big dance number. I had to do flips and pull-ups, that stuff it’s really, really fun.”

The featurette shows off Tatum’s athleticism via jumps, backflips, dancing on a table, plus there is a brief bit of his singing voice on display. Tatum, 35, reveals that outside of Burt’s good looks and showstopping skills, his character is seriously lacking smarts – which was a lot of fun to play.

“Burt is the kind of an actor who has an outfit for everything,” says Tatum. “He has his eating-dinner outfit, his soul lives in his hair. I think he’s kind of a moron. A lot of the actors in this movie are portrayed as morons, which I think is hilarious.”

Starring alongside Tatum in the Coen Brothers comedy are George Clooney, Josh Brolin, Scarlett Johansson“, Jonah Hill, Alden Ehrenreich, Tilda Swinton and Ralph Fiennes.

“It’s really, really fun,” adds Tatum of the showbiz satire set in the 1950s. “This movie will be wildly entertaining on any level.”

Hail, Caesar! opens in theaters Feb. 5.
