Can't Hardly Wait Cast Reunites for Special Screening of the '90s Cult Classic
Can't Hardly Wait teen heartthrob Ethan Embry reunited much of the cast for this special screening
The ’90s were alive in Los Angeles this past weekend when the cast of Can’t Hardly Wait reunited for a special screening.
Ethan Embry, who played Preston Myers in the 1998 cult teen classic, brought his old costars together for an exclusive Q&A and showing of the film at Samsung Studio LA on Sunday.
Although Jennifer Love Hewitt and Seth Green were noticeably missing from the reunion, most of the original cast was in attendance, including Steve Monroe, Jay Paulson, Joel Michaely, Peter Facinelli, Jenna Elfman, Eric Balfour, Sean Patrick Thomas and Jennifer Lyons.
Can’t Hardly Wait hit theaters in 1998 and went on to become a cult classic for people who came of age in the mid-to-late ’90s. The entire film takes place at a graduation party and deals with typical teen comedy tropes like having sex for the first time, heading off to college and getting revenge on bullies.
At the screening, presented by The Art of Elysium and Samsung, Facinelli, who currently stars in Supergirl, got to watch the movie with his two kids for the first time. His oldest, now 18, was just 6 months old when he filmed Can’t Hardly Wait.
During the Q&A, Elfman revealed she didn’t even have to audition for the part of the angel-winged stripper because of her high-profile role on Dharma & Greg at the time.
The cast also told fans that the movie was originally titled The Party but the name was changed – and some underage drinking scenes were dropped – in order to score a more marketable PG-13 rating.
