Camila Cabello to Make Her Movie Debut as Cinderella in New Reimagining from James Corden
Camila Cabello will be bringing her latin flair to Cinderella in a new movie
The 22-year-old singer will make her feature film debut as Cinderella in the reimagining of the classic story, PEOPLE confirms. Helmed by Blockers director and Pitch Perfect writer Kay Cannon, The Hollywood Reporter said Cabello will also be involved with the film’s music.
Cabello celebrated the news by tweeting a since-deleted photo of the cartoon Cinderella looking shocked, before sharing a photo of herself on a bench.
The idea reportedly comes from Corden, who will stay on the movie as a producer. Sony, the studio behind the movie, is putting the story on a fast-track to production.
Though plot details haven’t been released, the story is reportedly a modern reimagining of the classic fairy tale in which an orphaned girl turns into a princess. Cabello’s Cuban and Mexican roots will likely play a part in the modern aspect of the story.

Cabello’s turn to acting comes after the huge success of her solo debut album Camila last January. She went on to grab two Grammy nominations this year and her hit single “Havana” holds the record for the most-streamed song by a female artist on Spotify with over 1 billion streams.
Her success comes after separating from girl group Fifth Harmony at the end of 2016, before releasing her album a year later.
