Cameron Diaz is happier than ever now that she’s a married woman – and she’s got the pet name for her husband to prove it.

The actress, 43, appeared on The Ellen DeGeneres show Thursday where she said believes her marriage to Benji Madden will help her lead a longer, healthier life.

“I do think that marriage, when you can grow with someone, it’s very important,” she explained.

Diaz said that her relationship with Madden has helped a lot with her own personal growth.

“Someone asked me, ‘What’s your favorite thing about being married?’ and I said, ‘I just learned so much about myself. I didn’t know these things. I would have never known them if I didn’t have my husband to help me,” she said before joking, “And they said, ‘What’s the worst thing about being married?’ It’s like, ‘Well I learned all these things about myself that I wish I didn’t know. And I wouldn’t have learned them if I didn’t get married.’ So it’s a double-edged sword.”

Diaz and Madden tied the knot in January 2015 after just eight months of dating. After over a year of marriage, Diaz said she wouldn’t trade it for anything.

“I’m just so grateful for it because I couldn’t do it without my husband, and I couldn’t do it with anybody else,” she said.

The actress even revealed a few nicknames she has for Madden, joking that they’ve definitely evolved over time.

“I call him a lot of names,” she said. ” ‘Muh-buh’ You know how things start ‘baby’ then to ‘bae’ then it goes to ‘buh’? Soon I’m just going to go ‘uh’ and he’s going to know I’m talking to him.”
