Why Bryce Dallas Howard Texted Katherine Schwarzenegger Before Receiving Harvard Honor
Bryce Dallas Howard texted Katherine Schwarzenegger for advice since her family's name is all over Harvard's campus: “It’s like ‘Kennedy' on every building!’”
When Bryce Dallas Howard learned she was being honored with the Woman of the Year Award by Harvard University’s Hasty Pudding Theatricals, the actress didn’t reach out to her Jurassic World costar Chris Pratt, who received the Man of the Year honor in 2015.
Instead, Bryce, 37, texted his soon-to-be wife, Katherine Schwarzenegger.
“I texted his fiancée and I was like, ‘This is your family’s stomping ground,” the 37-year-old actress and director said Thursday. “It’s like ‘Kennedy’ on every building!’”
Howard headed to Harvard on Thursday to receive the prestigious award, where she was paraded through the streets of Cambridge in brutal five degree weather after a lunch with the cast. That was followed by the famed pudding pot presentation during a roast onstage at Farkas Hall.
Looking stylish in a black turtleneck and matching pants, Howard was roasted by the actors about everything from her resemblance to actress Jessica Chastain (“I loved you in Zero Dark Thirty”) to being Ron Howard’s daughter (“years of living in your dad’s shadow.”) But the actor/director took it all in stride, calling the roast a “big bonding experience.”

“For some of probably the smartest people on the planet, you’re totally bananas,” Howard told the crowd. “I just wanna say thank you for having me. This is totally a blast and I will never forget it as long as I live… and please accept my children into Harvard.”
Howard was one of the dozens of celebrities to congratulate Pratt, 39, and Schwarzenegger, 29, on their engagement earlier this month. After Pratt announced the happy news on his Instagram with a sweet picture of him giving Schwarzenegger a kiss on the forehead as she showed off her ring, Howard posted her well wishes in the comments.
“Let’s get this party started!” Howard commented, along with multiple emojis including a red heart.
