Billy Crystal is taking his iconic diner scene from When Harry Met Sally into new, uncharted territory.

The 70-year-old comedian appeared on The Late Late Show with James Corden Tuesday night and recreated the infamous diner scene from the 1989 film with the talk show host — but with a bit of a twist.

“I mean don’t get me wrong, Billy, I love hosting a talk show, I do, I do, it’s just it can be tough sometimes, you know?” Corden said, channeling Meg Ryan‘s Sally. “Some guests, frankly, they think they’re way more interesting than they actually are.”

Crystal replied, “Well, listen, I’ve been doing this my whole life. You don’t have to worry about me, talk show hosts love having me on as a guest.”

The 40-year-old host asked, “How do you know?”

“What are you saying? That they fake enthusiasm?” Crystal said.

Just as Crystal and Ryan’s characters do in the Rob Reiner-directed romantic comedy, the comedians start a conversation about “faking it.”

Corden shared it was “possible,” adding, “Most talk show hosts at one time or another have faked it.”

Unfazed, Crystal seemed secure, saying, “Well, they haven’t faked it with me.”

“I’m just saying, most actors from beloved films are sure it never happened to them, and most talk show hosts at one time or another have done it. You do the math,” Corden said.

To prove his point, he began laughing softly as though Crystal had shared a particularly hilarious joke. Corden began to wipe his eyes as his laughter grew louder, attracting the attention of the other diners.

“This guy! That’s why you hosted the Oscars nine times!” Corden said. “I love the movie and you are great in it! Every time you’re here, it’s always a hoot! It’s always a hoot!”

As he began slapping his hand on the table (another callback to Ryan’s faux orgasm scene), Corden added, “Billy Crystal everybody! We’ll be right back!”

The comedian stopped laughing abruptly to give Crystal a pointed look.

Seated at another table, Jay Leno told a waitress, “Yeah, I’ll have what he’s having.”
