"Ben is focusing on family and working on himself," a source tells PEOPLE

With her divorce from Ben Affleck finally proceeding, Jennifer Garner is happy, healing and looking forward to a bright future. Subscribe now for an inside look at her new life — only in PEOPLE.

Ben Affleck is finding his new normal.

Although Affleck, 44, recently moved out of the family’s Los Angeles guesthouse into a home of his own, he still spends a lot of time with his ex Jennifer Garner and their children.

“He often pops over [to the family house] for breakfast before the kids head to school,” a source tells PEOPLE in this week’s cover story.

And since completing treatment for alcohol addiction in March, the actor is “doing well” — in part thanks to Garner.

“These two consistently work on their relationship,” says a source who knows the couple. “While addiction can take a toll on a family, Jen was a true constant and — along with his friends — really helped encourage to seek extra support.”

Much like before they officially filed for divorce in April, Affleck has made cooperative co-parenting with Garner, 45, his top priority.

“They are working hard to continue to build a world that is right for their children,” says the second source. “They spend quite a bit of time on this. They continue to co-parent and respect each other. I think some would be surprised to see how close their relationship remains.”
