The couple and their three kids, Violet, 10, Seraphina, 7, and Samuel, 4, were spotted at St. Pancras railway station Sunday evening in London, where they had just returned from a four day getaway in the City of Light.
“They were pretty relaxed and just walked through the main concourse of the station with their bags,” a source tells PEOPLE. “They didn’t really say anything but seemed in good spirits and were smiling a lot. It was all very chilled out.”
Affleck carried some flowers in his bag and Garner was seen holding a miniature plastic replica of the Eiffel tower. “They were in a really good mood. They were laughing and joking with each other,” the source notes, adding, “It was really nice that they had no bodyguards with them. They were like a regular family coming back from a holiday.”
The family had arrived in Paris last Thursday afternoon and was spotted standing in line for gelato at the famous Amorino ice cream parlor, located around the corner from their hotel.
The stayed at Le Pavillon de la Reine, a relatively small, family friendly luxury hotel near Bastille. The entrance way is located under the covered arcade of the historic Place des Vosges, which leads to a shaded courtyard outfitted with cozy tables and chairs.
According to a source, Affleck, Garner and their children shared a family apartment together. Another source described the couple as “being close,” noting that Affleck touched his wife’s hand and rubbed her back at the reception desk.
On Friday, Garner and the kids rode on the Roue de Paris, a large ferris wheel in the Place de la Concorde. Later, they took a trip to Place de l’Opera, where Garner took photos on her cell phone while a hired guide took them on a tour of the famed opera house. They also visited the Sacre-Coeur, or The Basilica of the Sacred Heart of Paris, where Garner was seen carrying a tired Seraphina up the church steps.
Garner and the kids continued on to the Luxemberg Gardens, where they rented two fountain sailboats for a water tour of the famous gardens. They ended the day with a visit to Notre Dame before returning to the hotel to get ready for a family dinner with Affleck.
The dined at Le Petit Marché, where an onlooker tells PEOPLE, “At first they were alone and appeared to be affectionate, then were joined by the kids. Over dinner, the kids showed Affleck pictures from their day out, and a source says the actor was howling with laughter as he scrolled through the photos.
Garner kicked off Saturday with an early morning jog before returning to the hotel with croissants for the family. She then set out again with the kids, visiting the famed impressionist museum, Musee d’Orsay and later the Jardin des Tuileries, where the kids played on swing sets, trampolines and a carousel. They had lunch at Laparizienne, an outdoor restaurant on Place du March -St Honor before returning to the hotel.
After a quick shopping excursion to Isabel Marrant, an upscale shopping district, Garner returned to the hotel courtyard where she stopped to pose for pictures with fans. After wrangling the kids, the actress joined them for a two-hour motor launch ride on the Seine. According to onlookers, Garner looked relaxed and enjoyed a glass of champagne.
