David Fincher's adaptation of Gillian Flynn's celebrated thriller hits theaters Oct. 3

“I did not kill my wife. I am not a murderer.”

Ben Affleck has only a few lines of dialogue in this spellbinding first trailer for Gone Girl, David Fincher’s movie adaptation of Gillian Flynn’s celebrated thriller. But he’s in almost every frame – a husband haunted by his wife Amy’s disappearance.

The trailer is almost like a dark and brooding music video, set to a Richard Butler cover of the famous Charles Aznavour song “She.”

Fincher’s trademark stylized gloom is everywhere, as Affleck, playing Nick Dunne, feels pressure from a growing media frenzy and from police as they begin to question his story of a blissfully happy marriage to Amy, played by Rosamund Pike.

The film opens Oct. 3.
