Henry Cavill Jokes That It Was Easy to Play Ben Affleck's Rival in 'Batman v Superman' : 'It Was Genuine Dislike'

"I just didn't like him," Henry Cavill cracked

Turns out, it wasn’t too hard for Henry Cavill to fight with Ben Affleck in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.

Cavill, 32, stopped by Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Thursday night, where he admitted that before filming the epic superhero movie, he had only met Affleck once before.

“We met at a night-before party for the Oscars one year,” he said, adding that at the time he didn’t know they would eventually become costars. “Just met him. He was a really nice guy – normal, down-to-earth guy.”

But when host Jimmy Kimmel asked if they tried to avoid each other on set in order for the tension on screen to appear more authentic, Cavill admitted it was easy to play Affleck’s rival.

“No, I just didn’t like him,” joked Cavill. “It was genuine dislike.”

“You know, that happens,” he added sarcastically. “And then you become lovers and make videos with each other.”

Perhaps the faux bad blood stems from Affleck, 43, pranking him on set.

Later in the show, Kimmel and Cavill decided to create their own fake tension. The two pretended to get into a brawl in order to mess with all the drunk St. Patrick’s Day viewers.

“A lot of people are drunk right now watching television, and the show is on at bars,” explained Kimmel.

The late-night host asked Cavill to punch him in slow motion, which would cause him to go flying backward – and hopefully freak out anyone watching from a bar.
