Bradley Cooper Sweetly Thanks Irina Shayk for 'Putting Up With Me' While Making 'A Star Is Born'

Bradley Cooper shared a sweet moment with his girlfriend Irina Shayk at the 2019 BAFTA Awards.

The 44-year-old actor accepted the award for best original music at Sunday’s London award show for his directorial debut A Star Is Born.

Lady Gaga, who also performed on the film’s soundtrack, was not in attendance as she performed and won two Grammys for the movie’s hit song “Shallow” and one for her song “Where Do You Think You’re Goin’?” off her album Joanne.

“Well, I got to fulfill a dream that I thought would never happen: to compose and arrange music and I got to do it with the greatest musicians in the world, Lady Gaga and Lukas Nelson, who I share this with tonight,” Cooper said.

He continued, “This music was the heartbeat of the film,” before thanking a series of collaborators including Mark Ronson, and Hillary Lindsey to name a few.

He then gave Shayk, 33, a sweet shoutout, as well.

“Most of all I have to thank Irina, for putting up with me for all the music I was trying to make in our basement for a year,” he said. “Thank you very much. Thank you.”

A Star Is Born was nominated for seven BAFTA Awards and won for best film music. It’s also been nominated for seven Academy Awards.

Shayk previously opened up to Glamour UK in a cover story about the Oscar-nominated actor and why the two keep a low-key relationship.

“I have a lot of friends who share a lot of their personal life on Instagram or social media, very publicly. I admire it and I think it’s great – but I think it’s all about personal choice,” she said. “Because my work requires me to be out there, I just decided my personal life will be quiet. That’s why it’s called personal, because it’s something for you and your family, and I feel happy with it.”

That also goes for discussing her daughter, Lea De Seine Shayk Cooper, who she welcomed with Cooper in March 2017. But in her new interview, she did give some insight on her life as a mom and what that means for her style.

“In this modern world, in the 21st century, I really believe that if you have a baby, it doesn’t mean that you have to wear a longer dress,” she said.

While Shayk is keeping her personal life private, last week Cooper opened up about fatherhood in his most candid interview yet during a chat with Oprah Winfrey for Oprah’s SuperSoul Conversations from Times Square.

He revealed that he sometimes sees his own dad Charles — who died in 2011 after a battle with lung cancer — in his 22-month-old daughter.

“[Having a family has] changed everything. Our daughter, she’s incredible. And I see my father in her quite often. I can’t believe I’m gonna admit this, but I had moments when … I was in the room with her, I would say, ‘Dad?'” he continued. “There are some moments where she looks just like my father. I watch too many movies.”

He also talked about how his life has changed since having a family of his own. “[It] has opened me up even more, I guess, to the day, and to be present.”
