The new Annie officially has her nemesis.

Cameron Diaz has signed up to play the cruel orphanage headmistress Miss Hannigan in the upcoming film remake of the musical Annie, reports – the character memorably portrayed by Carol Burnett in the 1982 film.

Diaz will play opposite Quvenzhané Wallis, the 9-year-old Oscar nominee who is set for the role of Annie.

An Oscar winner, Jamie Foxx, will play Daddy Warbucks in the musical, which is originally based on an early-20th-century comic strip. The film is being produced by Will Smith and Jay-Z and directed by Will Gluck.

Sandra Bullock had been in talks to play Miss Hannigan but reportedly backed out.
