We’re getting another Princess Diaries movie, folks.

Never mind the dream-crushing reports to the contrary, hope is alive for a third installment of the successful franchise, thanks to director Garry Marshall and star Anne Hathaway.

“I was with Anne Hathaway a couple weeks ago, it looks like we want to do Princess Diaries 3 in Manhattan,” Marshall tells PEOPLE. “Anne Hathaway is very pregnant, so we have to wait until she has the baby and then I think we’re going to do it.”

There’s no telling when this fairy tale might come to fruition, especially since the very pregnant Hathaway will likely take a maternity leave of sorts when her baby arrives, but our fingers are crossed the film gets officially greenlit.

Might there be a role in there for Star Trek and Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement star Chris Pine?

“Maybe,” Marshall says. “He’s quite big now, you know.”

No matter! The last time a fan asked Pine about returning to the character, he seemed open to the idea, a fact we point out to Marshall.

“Yes, well Chris Pine likes me, you know why? Because his father is in Mother’s Day!” Marshall reveals, name-checking his upcoming, star-studded movie starring Julia Roberts, Jennifer Aniston and Kate Hudson, among others.

“His father I know, I’ve seen him in plays,'” Marshall adds. “Chris Pine and my kids went to similar schools, so I knew him as a kid. [Pine’s father] is quite good, he plays a strange, funny Texan. He and Margo Martingale are husband and wife.”

Mother’s Day hits theaters April 29.
