With the releases of his new album, The Boy Who Never, and his first feature film, Whip It, it’s been a busy week for singer-songwriter Landon Pigg. And while you certainly may heard his hit song “Falling In Love in a Coffee Shop,” here are a few things you might not know about the 26-year-old:

1. He Loves Hot Food
“They say that spice kind of induces dreams so anything that might help my chances that I’m going to dream, I like to do,” he says, adding that he particularly enjoys spicy Thai food. “It’s like free entertainment – like going to the movies except for you don’t have to pay for it!”

2. He Grew Up in Front of the Camera
“We were the kids, me and my brother and my sister, saying ‘Ronald makes it magic [in McDonald’s commercials],’ ” he says. “My father was a recording session singer, so that kinda got us in the door. So, when we were 8 and 9 years old we were singing in professional studios in downtown Chicago.”

3. He Wasn’t the Most Famous Kid in School
“We went to school with [My Girl‘s]’Anna Chlumsky. She was untouchable,” he recalls. “I remember having one conversation with her and it was in band practice. I was doing the snare drum. It probably made my year. The one thing she said to me was, ‘You play the snare drum, I envy you.’ And I held on to that sentence for so long.”

4. Costar Ellen Page Helped Him Get Healthier
“She’s passionate about macrobiotic restaurants, and that’s something she kind of introduced me to,” he says. “I’ve incorporated it into my diet but not the same extent that she has. She’s pretty intensive about it, which is great.”

5. He Has a Dream Side Project
“I had a thought, ‘What if I bred miniature horses, the size of, I don’t know, a Beanie Baby,’ ” he says. “A real horse with knobby knees and everything, and you could pet it with your finger and hear their hooves on a tabletop. It’d take a long time to accomplish that – it’d have to be a Pigg dynasty endeavor, I think.”
