Amy Schumer and Goldie Hawn may seem like the perfect mother-daughter duo in their new comedy Snatched, but the two weren’t always so familiar with each other.

During a Monday appearance on the Today show, Schumer, 35, revealed that 71-year-old Hawn had no clue who she was when she first pitched Hawn — who happened to be on a flight with her — the idea for the movie.

“I left [Hawn] alone during the flight. We’d never met,” Schumer began. “I waited till we got off the plane and then I went up and I harassed her. And I was just like, ‘I really want you to play my mom in this movie. And she was just like, ‘Okay, honey.’ ”

Hawn said she feels “bad” that she didn’t know Hawn, but called the comedian “sweet” and “adorable.”

“I thought you were the cutest thing. Amy came up and she was just, you know, sweet, you know, and adorable and all of it, and I hadn’t seen the show,” Hawn said, referencing the comedian’s hit show Inside Amy Schumer.

In the film, Hawn and Schumer play a mother and daughter who set off on a vacation to South America.

All seems to be going well until the two are drugged and abducted by a group of locals, forcing them to overcome their differences and work together in order to escape their captors.

Snatched is in theaters May 12.
