Amber Heard Gets Support from Friend Raquel Pennington in First Public Outing Since Court Appearance Over Johnny Depp Abuse Allegations
Amber Heard appeared to be in good spirits Saturday, days after making shocking domestic abuse allegations against husband Johnny Depp
Holding on tight to friend Raquel Pennington, Heard threw her head back in laughter while walking and toting her laptop. The outing was the first time Heard has been seen in public since appearing in court to request a temporary restraining order against estranged husband Depp on Friday.
In court filings obtained by PEOPLE, Heard has accused Depp, her husband of 15 months, of physically abusing her throughout their marriage. She obtained a temporary restraining order against the star after submitting photos of bruises on her face that she alleged in legal papers had resulted from an alleged domestic abuse incident on May 21.
In her filing, Heard submitted a declaration from Pennington, her friend and neighbor, who claimed she was at Heard’s home Saturday during the alleged incident with Depp. In her declaration, Pennington stated she received a text from Heard asking her to come over to her condominium unit, and that when she arrived, she “saw Amber by the couch in the living room covering her head with her arms and hands, as Johnny was loudly screaming at her.” Pennington also claimed that Depp “slapped my hands away and screamed foul obscenities at me.”
(An LAPD spokesman told PEOPLE that officers investigated the alleged incident after a 911 call and saw “no evidence of any crime.” Heard declined to file a report, according to police.)
In response to Heard’s allegations, Depp’s lawyer Laura Wasser said in court papers obtained by PEOPLE that “Amber is attempting to secure a premature financial resolution by alleging abuse.”
