The Twin Peaks actress, 29, was spotted out running errands in Beverly Hills on Wednesday, dressed casually in a T-shirt with running shorts and sunglasses.
While PEOPLE confirmed her split from Long on the same day, a source says the famous couple actually broke up months ago.
“The truth is that they actually split up around two months ago and never lived together,” according to the source. “They both tried very hard to make it work because they each wanted to eventually have a family but ultimately they weren’t compatible and decided to split up. They are still on good terms and friends.”
Seyfried made the first move in the relationship in the summer of 2013, texting Long to get together after admiring his sense of humor on Twitter.

“I followed him on Instagram and I thought something he said was really funny,” she told Vogue. “It was a picture of a snail, and the caption said, ‘F—ing MOOOOOOOOVE.’ It made me laugh out loud so I texted him.”
Seyfried said that she and Long enjoyed a low-key romance, and were happy watching reality TV and walking her dog, Finn.
